A heritage of excellence
In the late 1930s, Solly Bacher, fleeing anti-Semitism in Lithuania, arrived in Sabie, South Africa and began trading in men’s formal clothing, ultimately developing S. Bacher & Company into an importer and wholesaler of clothing and consumer products. Over time, the company found its niche in luxury timepieces, becoming an exclusive importer and distributor of designer watches in the 1970s.
Since then, we have imported, distributed and marketed watches from several fashion powerhouses, including Guess, Pierre Cardin, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Nike, Reebok and many more. We have also developed our own brands, namely Tomato, Buren and Lanco, which have all proved highly successful in the local market.
Over the past decade, we have diversified extensively into fragrances and cosmetics, which now form a significant part of the business.
We recently expanded our head office and warehouse, more than doubling our floor space to over over 3,000 m² to meet the growing logistical demands of our key customers. Our state-of-the-art warehouse management system ensures seamless handling across every aspect of stock and distribution.
